About Challengers

Challengers are a charity that offer inclusive play & leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people from age 2 to 25.  Disabled children are often excluded from social settings which means they do not get the same opportunities as non-disabled children to make friends, express themselves, and have a great time.

Challenges believe play is vital for every child and young person, even as we grow up we should never stop playing, so Challengers remove any barriers to play for disabled children.

The charity will celebrate its 40th birthday in 2019 and has grown from one swimming club to 26 schemes in 4 counties in the South East.  It currently supports over 1,400 families and delivers over 140,000 hours of fun each year.
A day at Challengers can be anything from a themed superhero day to a visit to the seaside for an ice cream.

Challengers is a life changing service and for some families is the difference between coping and not.  One parent said: “When my daughter was younger it gave us valuable time to spend with her brother and it gave us some respite. In recent years it has been valuable for Charlotte to have an appropriate social club to attend where she is welcomed, well looked after, well entertained and has a happy day.”
